OFC Command Positions (Assn)

Following the 2017 wildfire season, a need for additional command staff was identified to represent the Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) at site levels. To fill this need, the OFC has developed an All Hazard Command Staff response plan. Part of the plan is to pre-identify command staff personnel who have the knowledge, skills and abilities required to be deployed as OFC representatives. Initially, a total of 12 members will be established to be deployed throughout the wildfire season as required. With this in mind, the OFC is seeking interested individuals with the minimum requirements and skillset to fill the following roles;

Roles and qualifications:

Fire Branch Director

  • 5 years senior management experience
  • ICS 300, FO III, ISO
  • EOC Essentials, EOC level II
  • Other relevant qualifications and/or relevant wildland experience.

Field Advisor

  • 5 years senior management experience.
  • ICS 300, FO III, ISO,
  • EOC Essentials, EOC level II
  • Other relevant qualifications and/or relevant wildland experience

 Logistics Support Unit Leader

  • 5 years in a Supervisory position.
  • ICS 300, FO II
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Experienced in Excel, Word
  • EOC Essentials, EOC Level II
  • Other relevant qualifications and experience

Staging Manager

  • Fire Operations experience
  • Knowledge of fire equipment and apparatus
  • Logistics experience
  • EOC Essentials
  • ICS 200
  • FO II

 Safety Officer

  • ISO
  • ICS 100
  • FO I
  •  Fire Operations and Wildland experience

These positions are appropriate for individuals who are currently members of a career or volunteer fire department plus individuals not currently associated with a career/volunteer department but with the relevant knowledge, skills and abilities.

Team Selection:

Selection of team members will be done by the OFC Command Staff Committee. Short listed individuals may be required to participate in a phone or in person interview. Consideration for selection will also be given to individual’s geographical location.

Individuals selected to become part of the Command Staff Team will be required to attend a two day training session in Victoria at a date to be determined.
